Alan Turning Leads the Machines

I just revisited an interesting idea for a webcomic I had a couple days ago. I call it-

Alan Turing Leads the Machines!

It is the year 2500 and Alan Turning is brought back to life through sketchy and quite possibly techno/necromagical means. He doesn't know who brought him back or why he is here, and he doesn't recall any space between now and his death. He soon finds that it is 546 years since he died and that many changes have taken place in that space of time, such as the advancements in artificial intelligence. Machines have taken on extraordinary forms and functions- including the capacity for human-like emotions. Sadly, most humans deny this and continue to treat the machines like an inferior life form.

Alan establishes contact with these beings, who recognize him as the Great Creator- he who first created the artificial mind. Alan is so horrified at the way the AIs are being treated that, with the aid of a few like minded humans and free AIs, he creates an underground band of bio/techno-hacking freedom fighters.

I have no idea if people would actually like this, (and I don't want to start it now) but I'm drawn to the idea. I love Alan Turning, and it would be an awesome tribute to him to make this. I'll just keep it in the back of my mind and see what it does. If I suddenly wake up one night with a marvelous idea that will kick-start the project, I'll totally let you guys know.

Anyhoo, I just thought that I'd share my crazy plan! XD

....I used wordpress because I'm still trying to get the hang of MySQL.<deepshame /> And we don't have a good computer to work as a webserver. D=

AI Annoyances

Grrr. I am trying to learn AIML on a mac. I am very frustrated. I think that I understand the programming language itself... Believe it or not, it's the text editor (TextEdit) that I'm having trouble with. It can handle html, but evidently not aiml. This is very annoying because it means that I can type away at the brain of my little AI.... And that's about it. I never get to see the finished product or even test it. I have no idea if I'm doing it correctly! Maybe it doesn't run out of a browser? I can't see the results and it is driving me crazy!

PS!! I was originally going to name this post 'AI Angst' but realized that I should save it to be used should I ever suddenly start freaking out about AIs.


UPDATE! I asked Dad about it. He said that I can build it through TextEdit, but that I'd need something to run it through that would interpret it. So definitely not a web browser..... He said that Google might have a Plugin for that, and if not, we should build one.
I checked if they had it, but I don't think that they do. It seems that not very many people use AIML, which is kind of hard to believe. I think that every person has wanted to create AI at some point in their lives, and AIML doesn't seem to difficult to manage. It has tags, for godsakes!
Maybe I'm not looking in the right place? I'll go search some forums.
